i just started sewing and bought a bunch of patterns from Joanne's last weekend...i didn't realize until i opened up one of the patterns that i got the wrong size on all of them....i didn't realize it cuz i was just going by the sizes listed on the back, not realizing i needed to look at the sizes on the front.....argghh!!...anyways...my question is this:

will i be able to exchange the patterns?? i no longer have my reciept and one of the patterns is already opened...

thanks

(i know i should call the store, but i REALLY am not in the mood for that right now, so if that is your answer, don't bother)

Been there, done that! Don't think you're the only one!

I've been able to take the patterns back (unopened) to Rag Shop and they've let me exchange them for a different size without a receipt. I know they won't let you exchange the opened one, however.

My advice is to go to the store and ask for the manager. Explain the situation and let him know you simply want a different size of the same pattern. If they have a smart manager, he/she won't want to alienate a new seamstress and discourage future business from you. After all, as any quilter will tell you, once you start sewing, you're hooked! Good luck!

Most pattern stores have a strict no return policy.. and usually stamp the pattern once it's been sold. I'd say you are SOL on this. If by some miracle they accept the unopened package I can't imagine a pattern shop accepting an open return.
