I realize it is technically correct to say "spelt" as in "you spelt that word wrong." But isn't it better usage to use the word "spelled" instead?

Yes, spelt is a type of wheat, but it is in fact technically correct. That's what's so annoying about it. I can't slam anybody for using it, but it's such a stupid word.

It is technically INcorrect to use spelt in reference to spelling - it is an ancient type of wheat grain.
Spelled is correct.
There are many abbreviations, condensations and modern uses of language in internet communication that are frustrating, and actually impede reading rather than speeding it up.

It isn't technically correct to say you spelt that word wrong. Technically speaking, spelt is a grain. Not so technically speaking, you spelt that word wrong is a lazy man's way of spelling spelled.

I'll hop right on that once they make a judgment or I find out my case has been canceled regarding the spelling of "judgement" and "cancelled".

Spelt is just another form of spelled.
to Babbler on top floor, the word is not "slang" it is from the Old French language.
The guy one floor up is correct, it is not just a type of wheat from Asia.

No. the concern that pisses me off is whilst idiots spell the word "does" as "dose". As in: "Dose it annoy absolutely everyone else whilst human beings spell the words "one yet another" "eachother?"?" grrrrr

yes, that's like some other slang that this world has adopted....even though it's technically correct, it sounds so....odd and....goofy. i would have to agree that it's better usage to use spelled instead.

Either spelling is acceptable. It may annoy you personally, but others may not feel that way!
What is your stance on dived/dove, dreamt/dreamed, got/gotten??
