You could try finding a vet who will do the work for free. Otherwise, get a job and sell stuff. If you dog is that important to you, show it.

Good luck.

Dont listen to any of these people telling you to put your pet to sleep. When we take an animal in we are responsible for it. What is your dogs problem? Is it a torn ACL? Hip Displacia? If it is something like a torn ACL it will not get better on its own and seeing the price I have a feeling that this may be what you are dealing with (because it is operable). Try to find a vet that will work with you on a payment schedual if you need to. If it is a bad case of artheritis (again I dont think so because your dr. recomended surgery) you can put your animal on glucosimine and conjointin they make a brand for dogs. This will take a few months to see any signs of improvement but will over time help. My sugestion is to try to find someone to give your pet the treatment they need and is willing to work with you. Most vets are humanitarians and will work something out. I wish you the best of luck, stories like this break my heart and I have seen too many good animals put down because their owners cant afford to care for them.

you should work around the house or get a job to pay half or more of the cost. try the humane society, they sometimes do surgeries that are less expensive. beg your parents and show your responsibility to them for the dog's surgery. but remember, just because it's expensive, doesn't mean it's not worth it. tell your parents that your dog is part of the family, and that they would pay $1,000 to fix your bad leg if you had one, so why not your dog's?

Get out your phone book and start calling every vet in the town you live in. Someone will do the work pro-bono. Explain the situation and be very detailed as to why you can not pay. Also try some of the rescue services in the town you live in. Good luck to you and God Speed to your dog.

sorry dude, a dog is a dog. Sometimes the best thing to do is put it down. I know this isn't what you want to hear. Just being honest with you. Your dog might be your life, but that is just it. That dog is your pet. Just an animal. I honestly love my cat so much and wouldn't know what to do without her. But when it comes time if ever to just have to let go because of a medical reason. It would be difficult to put her down too. But you have to think about the pain factor that animal might be feeling. Sometimes its just better to move on to the next life.

2nd its a $1000 that could be spent elsewhere for sure

Work out a payment plan with your vet. Most vets are willing to accept payment plans on expensive surgeries and treatments because they care more about the welfare of the animal than the money. See if your parents would be willing to work with you on a payment plan of your own. Maybe they could pay the initial $1000 and you could work on paying them back. Good luck!

I don't think it would cost that much to get it fixed. But if it is bad you need to take it to the vet. He or she is your best friend and you need to help them. Think of it this way if you had a bad leg would you want you friend to help you out. I would give all my money just for my pet. I hope every thing works out and it will get better. Just remember PRAY and god will heal. It will get better.

You could do some extra work for it, but I've seen lots of very happy three-legged dogs. It's hard to advise without details of what the options are.

There are programs to help people with pets who have large medical costs, just ask your vet for information. If you want you can take up a collection with friends and family for your pets surgery. Good luck!

try calling your local vets office to see if they will do work for free if not tell them your situation and maybe they wont do it for free but you can getth price reduced then contact everyone you know and ask for contributions to the cause then hit your parents up again and maybe after all the effort you put in your parents will give you the remaining $$$ Good luck!!
