To me, the only way to WIN in Iraq is to leave, and leave behind a nation that is able to do stand united. It might not be the right idea to pull out all or our troops right now, and it might not be the right idea to add another round of soldiers. I belive the right answer is somewhere in the middle. We need to slowly pull the troops out so that the Iraqis can take over. It isTHIER country.

I hate the debate about "Supporting the troops" it is such an ambiguous statement. Of course EVERYONE "supports the troops" they are fighting a war that WE sent them to fight and they deserve our respect and support. But just because someone opposes Bush's Iraq policy they should not be branded as "cowards" or "cut and runners". We have to leave Iraq at some point.

Also, the arguement that Terrorists will follow us here is absurd. There have always been and always will be terrorists. We have to protect our nation at home with the CIA, FBI, and Dept of Homeland Security not a war.

I will respond by saying the only way now, to win the war, so to speak, is to beat the livin crap out of Iran. Short of that we are wasting our time and wasting valuable lives of our troops.

So much of the world's concerns lay with Iran. This camel driven, devil worshiping, group of ugly little nomads, who have the arrogance of a fruit fly, that is sexually aroused, floating down a river on it's back, crying out to raise the bridge, are mankinds biggest, current troublemaker!

This is how ridiculous the waiting game has become. We wait for Iran to make it's next move, so we can send our troops out to put out the fire. They have had us chasing our dummies for so long, our leaders have forgotten how to think, how to plan, and how to react. Now, it's time that we took the initiative! We need to keep them guessing! We need to bring them to their knees ! Only then will the middle east quiet down. Once we have resolved issues with Iran, we need to do the same with Syria !

You believe that Homeland Security, the CIA, and the FBI are the answer to domestic security, and I believe you are horrendously naive. We had these agencies in the past, at least two of them, and they let shiit happen, right under their noses. The same thing will happen when enough time goes by and they all become complacent, just like on 9/11. This is what happens when politicians and bureaucrats are the decision makers!

Everyone wants peace in the middle east except the middle east. They have had their little wars going on for over a millennia and it hasn't shown signs of slowing down. We went to war over a lie *those notorious weapons of mass destruction that have buried themselves in the sand dunes* took "control" over Baghdad, dug Suddam out of his bunker and watched him hang. But alas, this still wasn't enough to win the Iraqis over into our way of thinking.

If you want to win this war, we need to remember our roots. After Genevia, there hasn't been ONE major military "conflict" that we have been involved with that we have come out the winner on *look at Korea and Vietnam, or even the first Golf War* We are getting beat by surprise attacks, guerrilla tactics, and there is nothing that will be done about it because it MIGHT look bad on us.

Very few people know that there was a standing order in Iraq that no soldier was to shoot at an Iraqi, be they insurgent or civilian, unless that US soldier was fired upon and HIT first. But you don't hear about THAT on CNN.

You want to win this war, then we need to let our soldiers do their jobs and leave the politicans out of it. A couple hundred years ago, leaders would often times ride at the head of their army, charging into battle along with their troops. Would that be the way things were again.

Sending over more troops isn't going to do anything more than give insurgents more targets. Until our "War policies" change, it will be another Vietnam.

I'm not too impressed with the new Dept. of Homeland Security either. Have you been to an airport recently? United States soldiers, home from Iraq on leave, must remove their boots and have the wand taken over them before passing through airport security, even though they have DOD identification, full uniforms on, and a ticket purchased through the military BACK to the desert. Those men and women are heros, and we treat them worse than rapists or murderers.

the only cowards is bush. America can't win the war in Iraq. unless bush kill everyone in the world, as long as there is human, there is always will terrorists bombing in Iraq or somewhere in the world, there is no terrorists attack after 911 2001 in america. The american troops should leave iraq to protect america. doesn't matter how long the war keep going, America will never win the war iraq. maybe for while. for long period of time, the answer is "NO"

Leave the country and quit trying to be baby sitters and policemen and women. It's time they stood on their own.

The arguments about Civil War and terrorism are wrong. There has been a surge in Al-Qaeda and terrorist groups and they have expanded all over this world. With Iran's help, they're coming to get us anyway. We should be concentrating on Diplomacy matters and stopping Iran now.

As for the Civil War, Iraq has already been in that state for a year now.

Well written. I agree we would like to leave a stable Iraq, but there's the rub. The Iraqi's don't seem to enthused about not killing each other. I know a lot of iraqi's want peace in their country, but it's not happening as long as they hold 1,000 year old grudges. And that is something they have to solve themselves. You can't put a gun down someone's throat and really convert them.
I'm not sure about how leaving "american boys to do what iraqi boys should be doing" is helping other than just holding the walls up. Once we leave, they're going to fall.

i agree, the only way to win a war like this one is to simply not fight it.

i think that americans need to be a bit more demanding of those who think that statements like mine mean that i don't want to fight the war on terror.

i very much do.

however, the war in iraq has nothing to do with 9/11 or the larger war on terror.

saudi arabia does, as does pakistan...

Agree almost totally with you except for part on Dept. of Homeland Security, and believe not one Democratic Lawmaker will stop those inclined to sell their soldering skills to Iraq Government from doing this type of employment.

I think you have two different Wars. One is Iraq War, the other is War on Terror. We can conclude no amount of massmedia brainwashing can subdue a nation of muslims. Which leaves the War on Terror. What is the condition of victory for War on Terror? Who declared it and what is it outlined to accomplish?
