I never knew getting cold symptoms could be a symptom of pregnancy (sniff cough, sorry, excuse me! ahum, where was I) but on this fascinating and slightly addictive website, most of the now preg mums all got cold symptoms very early on after conception. Since I've been pregnant I have experienced hayfever type symptoms, itchy eyes and blocked snuffy nose etc. Apparently it's common and it's because you produce more blood when pregnant and your nasal passages can become thinner causing a blocked nose, it's normal too for your nose to be slightly wider (weird I know!). I'm not sure why my eyes are dryer and itchy but apparently it's just 'normal'.
I suppose also being tired all the time when you're first pregnant and towards the end can make you feel flu like and generally run down, it all comes hand in hand unfortunately. Maybe it's a combination of your body changing to meet your new needs and the baby taking vitamins from your body, taking a pregnancy vitamin helps with this though (to a point).
When I found out I was pregnant I also quit smoking and I got "quitters flu", I'd never heard of that either so it was a bit weird to go through.
