Im a natural bruneete and have dyed mair for yrs red or alburn i have not dyed it our of fear for the baby. I don't want to continue doing it through my pregnancy. my thought was to avoid any further two-tonnage i would dye it dark brown so it wouldn't be such a bother to me. My roots are already at least an inch long and starting to bother me. My doctor says he doesn't see a problem with it as long as i be careful which one i use ( no ammonia). I have a friend who highlighted her hair and some who have dyed it. Not sure what i think on it. Can you ladies tell your advice and if you have a particular brand you would like to suggest please do so. Thanks

well i have highlighted my hair throughout my pregnancy, starting at 15 weeks. I was told by my dr that after the first trimester it is perfectly safe to dye your hair esp since dyes now a days arent as harsh as they used to be. This is ultimatly a personal choice you have to make, you have to decide if you feel comfortable or not. I say if ti makes you feel better go for it, cause if it is bothering you now just wait till you keep blowing up and feel real bad about yourself lol it will bother you ten times more! Good luck!

The dye can't hurt your baby if it has no ammonia in it. Always take your dotor's advice. People scare pregnant women by saying that chemicals from dye will soak into your scalp and get to the baby blah blah blah...but the only danger is the fumes, since too much fume and not enough oxygen could be a problem with any chemical. Just use ammonia free dye in a well-ventilated area, such as a room with an open window or a fan blowing on you, and you'll be fine.

You can dye your hair. One reason they say not to is because your hair can do funny things when combined with hair dye during pregnancy because of all the hormones. The color you are use to may not be the one you get. Make sure you do not use any cheapy dyes, but just in case always check with your doctor before taking anything. My doctor said the chemicals do not penetrate through the skin in a hazardous amount so it is safe and she doesn't let me take anything.

They say not to dye it in the first tirmester. I am a brunette and dye mine red. I just died mine a few days ago and I am now 34 weeks. I used Herbal Essences. No ammonia and no bad smell. My roots were close to 3 inches. Was driving me crazy so I did it. If your dr says it is fine then go ahead. It is your decision. good luck

Well i would wait until you are in your 2nd trimester to do so. I was in the same prediciment, but I chose to do highlights, that way the dye was not touching my scalp...if you do decide to go with it..just make sure your in a well vented area..but still wait until you are at least 14 weeks pregnant, that way you are out of the most vital stages of your little ones growth!

I just dyed my hair. My husband grabbed a box of nice and easy, usually the smell doesn't bother me but it did this time. I took a test and low and behold I was pregnant. The color turned out fine too. There shouldn't be anything wrong with dying your hair.

You can dye your hair. Be careful though because sometimes if you dye your hair while your pregnant the color may not hold because of the different homorones in your body. That's from personal experience.

I would have it done professionally. Just make sure they are aware you are pregnant. The one thing I heard is you don't always get the color results you want do to hormones. A professional may know the best way to go.

Saw a show once that displayed a dead woman's brain after years of dying her hair. For your health's sake, you shouldn't do this anyway.
Not much of an answer, I realize.
