As I cannot find a current chicken recall on the FDA website (http://www.fda.gov/opacom/7alerts.html)
I can't say for sure. I do know that for years the chicken industry had been plagued by poor working conditions and sanitary issues. There has been talk for years about the "fecal soup" that come in contact with the chicken and employees. Most of this has been pointed at large plants such as Tyson.
There is a problem in this country with our food supply. And it is multifaceted. Firstly it is a labor problem. Many of the positions that have people in direct contact with the food do not offer adequate health insurance so that the workers are forced to work while ill (not all place but it is especially rampant in the farm hands that are temporary and rely so strongly on the income they receive in that season during the year.
Then we do not have a good system of standards, regulations and testing to make sure that food that gets contaminated makes it out of the plant. And on top of that plants don't always follow the recommendations that come down and often this makes for contamination issues.
So to answer you question. yeas they in essence are related happenings.
Oh and to remind people that when farmers hire "illegal" aliens that makes no difference if they are not treated well. Yes they are easier to pay and treat badly because they will not report for fear of returning to a worse hell. Look up not down for the source of the problem.

The Chicken probably tested positive for the Food Poisoning germ. Same thing about the Mushrooms and Peter Pan Peanut Butter.

There is nothing wrong with the chicken. That "bird flu" thing is just an excuse from a bunch of protesters.
