I never had any interest in those types of shows. While I enjoy watching a good movie and feel that an actor or other performer should be rewarded for something really exceptional or meaningful, I feel these awards just showcase the gluttony and excessiveness of our society. There is so much good that could be done with the money that is wasted during these shows (and other events). The folks in control really have priorities screwed up-making royalty out these people! I guess that's the enchantment with Hollywood-America doesn't really have any royalty to speak of so we have to invent our own. Many people look up to these performers and worship the ground they walk on-which is unfortunate when there are so many other inspiring and truly courageous people, NORMAL people, out there. As time goes on, I find that Hollywood is becoming increasingly outlandish.
And I agree, time with family is far better spent!!
What really gets me is how performers use their renown and status to try to sway the American public to support their political cause. Once actors start entering the political arena, I tend to shy away from them. Afterall, if they wanted to be involved in politics, why did they become performers in the first place? People who don't know any better truly believe that these causes and endorsements must be the right thing to do because their favorite actor said so-it's disgusting.

I won't be watching either but not because "Hollywood is biased ,has an agenda and doesn't respect my views. There is no reason why I should give them my ratings, time and attention."
I wouldn't be here at Yahoo if I applied those ground rules!
I like USMC's answer - my time is better spent with my family.

It's totally uninteresting and meaningless to me. I really couldn't care less who wins what award for what movie they did. Aside from a few comedies, there have been no good movies out for years.
I really find it hard to beleive that so many people are interested in the Oscars. It's such a media circus it's disgusting.
Of course, thats just my view. Others may like to watch it and we have no right to take that away from them.

i'm no longer going to computer screen both, yet Hollywood no longer respecting my perspectives isn't the reason, even notwithstanding I do imagine they ought to easily "close up and sing/act/ect." I not at all watch the Oscars or the different award tutor for that count number. the reason being is because it in simple terms makes me ill to make sure popular human beings giving different popular human beings awards for being the hottest. Yuk! those who watch those award shows, are ET visitors and tabloid hunters favor to get a life. i'm out!

I never have and never will. I don't believe in praising them in ANY of the awards programs. Take a look at the Grammys. I didn't watch it but apparently the bush hating trio won 5 awards. Of course they couldn't win in the Country Awards so they had to win in one of the many extremely left wing programs.
So, Americans didn't award them, the far left loonies did.

I haven't watched it for several years. The most important reason: It does not reward the best. The actors are a bunch of whiny RICH Liberals who try and impress each other with their silly social illogic, fancy clothes, jewelery, etc.
