Because we are human and we can never be satisfied with the moment of happiness that we have. We look to the next everytime...
It's Just the Way We Are

We hole on to things the tightest, when we are force to let them go. We always want things a certain way, when we know they can't be so. Dreams always last the longest, when they are furthest from our reach. And the lessons we can learn the most from, are often the very ones we teach. The grass is always the greenest, when it lies on teh other side, and truths we preach to others, are often those we can't abide. We hold fast to the things in a storm, which are most likely to blow away , And yet we neglected to wear sunscreen on a bright and sunny day. We spend our time trying to see things, when perspecitve is one thing we lack, And we never appreciate what we've got, until we can't get it back. We expect the whole world to give us a break, and yet ironically we'll find, That when others come asking the same of us, we tell them they're out of their mind. We tell everyone what's wrong with this world, adn we do nothing to make it right. We complain about families fallin apart, and yet do nothing to keep them tight. We preach about loving our neighbors, and we teach children fright from wrong. But we never set good examples for them, when real chances come along. We complain about not having enough time in our lives to do what we must do. Yet if we were given more hourse in the day. we'd us up all that too. WE desire to be close to all those we love, yet all too often look on from afar. And when it comes to the truth do we want to change or remain forever the same??

It doesn't mean most of us rather it applies to each of us. Man is such a creature who is never contented of what he achieves,he still wants more and is always in a rush to look up for new avenues. To a particular limit it is even good for if man would have been contented his quest for new things and finding a reason behind everything would have come to an end. It is ultimately his quest that has made us aware of our history based on which we can have a vision for our future. Fact is that happiness comes from satisfaction b it mental, emotional, physical or spiritual. We can b happy for our deeds for a small period of time but the fact that it can give us happiness forever is far from imagination. It can only happen when we have nothing to lose nor to gain ie. after when we are out of this life's circle.

Everything in life goes in cycles and what goes up has to come down. The concept of happiness and sorrow are also similar. Both has to co-exist or in other words they are complementary. But for one, the other has no meaning. You would never know what is happiness, unless you experience the opposite state which is unhappiness or sorrow. For easier understanding, even being happy all the time gets boring...yaar ;-) To relish happiness we have to go to sorrow and return (we realize the true value then)

Life is not easy. We are often disillusion and disappointed in not only those around us, but in ourselves as well. Happiness is really a choice and there are different degrees and definitions. I think it is a state of being... over all contentment.

Things might be tough for the moment and maybe that moment lingers, but there are some reliefs within it... you just need to be more simplistic, reasonable and accepting of the circumstance. It takes work, but we can enjoy the harvest.

I think most of us look to the wrong things to make us happy. Lottery winners (statistically speaking) are generally worse off five years after winning the lottery than they were before winning!

If you're interested in the subject of our perceptions of happiness, you might try the book "Stumbling on Happiness" by Daniel Gilbert. It's not a self-help book; it's about the (brain) science of how we determine what will make us happy and how often we're wrong about it.

But for a certain type of man, day and night are the same.

You want to be in the loop of happyness and sadness then do whatever makes you happy and hope for the best.

Leo Tolstoy quotes, "Happiness doesn't depend up on the circumstances, where in we find our-selves, but attitude towards them". Happiness and un-happiness, both are our feelings. What one's happiness may be un-happiness for the other and vise versa. Brain is the main centre for all these feelings. If you train the brain to re-act normal to all situations, then both feelings are same to you. Correct word in Sanskrit is "STHITHA PRAGNATHA" (STABILITY). Practise makes a man perfect.

Because happiness is relative. The intensity of happiness increases depending on the intensity of the obstacles to success.

no one can remain happy forever, if people start staying happy forever then how will we know the difference between sadness n happiness, where there is gud its necessary to have evil or we wont realise the importance of gudness, similarly, where there is happiness its necessary 2 have sadness or we wont realise the meaning of happiness, we wont realise the importance of happiness, after every happiness, there is sadness.
