Good question. Here is the latest information available. There are about 700-1000 tornadoes reported each year in the United States depending upon which source you use. Frequencies by state, by month, and by Fujita intensity scale may be found in textbooks such as "The Atmosphere" by Lutgens and Tarbuck and "Meteorology Today" by Ahrens, 7th ed.
