Some yes, some no.

Older stuff and underground stuff is good.
Commercial junk is terrible: Dem Franchize Boys, Bird Man, Ca$h Money Millionaires are all horrible examples of what true rap/hip-hop is -- even 50 Cent and Eminem are just in it for the money these days.

Stick with the real stuff: De La Soul, Hieroglyphics crew, Def Jux records, Stones Throw records -- all quality.

It really depends. There are some rappers who use rap lyrics loosely based on their lives. I like rap music that gives a positive message to the youth. Some rappers give inspiration to their listeners. Eminem, for instance, has made rap songs that draw images of how he made it to the music industry.
Rap songs I dislike are the ones that contain derogatory words that promotes racism, such as *****. I like rap even when incorporated with rock songs (e.g. Linkin' Park.) Rap does not necessarily mean negative. There are different ways of looking at rap songs. I, for one, like rap.

I admit that some rap is catchy....thats about as far as it goes. The lack of creativity (musically) is what I don't like. It does take time and maybe even talent to write that many words for a "song" but I can't take the same thing over and over.

I pretty much like the rap music back in the 80's.

Rap music is a contradiction in terms. It doesn't qualify as music because music has to have three elements - rythym, melody and harmony.
And NO i don't like it because of the negative terms about law enforcement personnel and women.

I personally love all genres of music. I like rap, but not really into 'gangsta' rap. I've heard some gangsta rap songs that weren't too bad, though.

Personally I don't listen to it and don't really liek it, but music is a way of expressing yourself, and if that's the way some people choose to do it, I won't say anything. I understand that there are a huge number of people who enjoy it for their own reasons, as I enjoy my genres for my own...and some people hate the stuff I like and say its not music, so I'm not gonna start anything.

Yes, but not 99% of the crap that comes out these days. I love the old school hip-hop. Songs that actually meant something, and had a message behind it.
