Last night my husband decided to give my almost 2 year old son a haircut. He tried to finish it before I came home from running errands in hopes that I wouldn't know that it was him who cut our son's hair because he knew if I caught him in the act I would be pissed, which I was. He said he did it because he was sick of looking @ my son's hair fall into his eyes & didn't have time to take him to get a haircut (I'm sorry - if you have time to cut his hair yourself, you have time to take him - not all hair dressers close at 5:00!) Anyway, he didn't tell me he was going to do this because he was sick of being told what to do. I know he gets really depressed this time of year and hates his job, but was I out of line by being mad? He kept telling me that he was going to take him for a haircut, never said, I don't have time, could you? He tried to hide it from me because he knew I'd be upset. He did not do a good job. He cut his bangs too short (he doesnt think so) & it's crooked...

At two it's not a big deal. I mean if he was in line for a big role in an up an coming movie then yeah I could see it. My Dad cut my hair until I was around school age. After that I learned to punch and kick! Tell you what, go to Wal-mart, get one of those vacuum attachments that cut hair. It cuts it all the same length and can't go wrong. Plus they cost less than a hair cutting set.

Why waste your time being mad? What's done is done. MANY people cut their children's own hair, and if your DH wanted to give it a try, what's the big deal? Personally, I think it's ridiculous to spend $10 or more to cut a 2-year-old's hair.

I think that the two biggest problems here are you being pissed at him for trying to cut his own kid's hair, and him trying to hide it from you. Both are just really immature, and show a lack of communication and trust.

As far as the hair goes, it'll grow back... no biggie.
