I use Ubuntu, but, it direct connect to my Router. When it is installed top left Applications > Add/Remove Programs/Applications. I not on it now, but, you will figure it out. When the Window open it look for available programs, Top Right, start with Ubuntu Applications and you can expand from there. I not sure, but, you may find an application that help with this.
Also, you may what to install Ubuntu as a Dual Boot with Windows until you learn. I did this on a Laptop with Suse Linux and could never get my wireless going (Long Story), so, I formated the partition and still using Windows 98 for now, until I learn more.
I hope this get you to the Ubuntu Forum and you question may be asked here with an answer. The guy say it will work.

I know Ubuntu has done well for me detecting Hardware, I just not have the space to try on my Laptop.

I went back to read and this may not help. Up top type in Wireless Card search and you may find more.

Ubuntu can use NetworkManager, which attempts to make wireless "Just Work". So can Fedora and some other major Linux distributions.
