In another blaze of intellectual accumen, the Liberal leadership in the Senate in it's insane effort to cripple the Presidents ability to wage war is putting up a motion to do that. In doing so the Democrats are likely to lose Liebermann and thus hand the Senate to the GOP.

Lieberman has declared himself an Independent since his last election. So he can go to either side, can't he ?

it's OK if we lose 1.. that would just tie the vote anyway (assuming things actually could make it out of committee these days... the minority party hasn't allowed much of that yet) but it's not like there aren't any republicans that would vote with the dems on certain issues... here's the real deal.. due to old standards you have to have a vote of 60 in the senate to even be able to get a bill to the straight up majority vote on the floor.. so if you don't have the vote of 60 to start with it'll never make it.. the republicans have more than 40 votes.. as do the democrats... so without some bipartisan effort nothing will ever make it threw the senate anyway.

There is no truth to this rumor. Lieberman is an independent who won in Connecticut with a lot of independents and Republicans voting for him. He allies with Bush on the fight on terror and the Iraqi war, but is aligned with the Democrats as he is a life long Democrat. He doesn't have to cater to the hard left as he is the 51st vote there. Joe Lieberman is one of my favorite politicians in America who doesn't pander to anyone whether it be the president or the hard left of the Democratic party. He would be a much better choice as a presidential candidate in 2008 that the ones I'm hearing like Hillary and Obama.

I listened to a very good interview with Lieberman yesterday. I feel that the Democrat's are going to do more harm to themselves by pursuing this matter. If they are patient, and wait for Bush's incentive to fail then they'd gain a lot more.

The GOP are loving this I am sure.

I feel that the Democrat's would be better served if they started to tackle all the other issues in the US today...Healthcare, Homeless, Immigration etc....let the people see something productive, rather than a 'battle' that is likely to end up in the Supreme Court!

I wasn't aware of that, but it just isn't worth it, no matter how Conservative I may be. I don't trust Lieberman, he flip flops around to stay in power, and even turned against his own people the Jews, and Israel, in hopes of becoming Vice-president to Al Gore. Remember in the race for the White House between George Bush, and Al Gore? Al Gore wanted to cut-off support to Israel, and Lieberman went gung-ho for it. Shame shame!

i think anyone with two active brain cells could see this one coming a long way off.

leave it to the republicans once again to gain control by manipulation as opposed to listening to the will of the people.

though if joe jumps ship, you can bet the gloves will come off in the house and the 52 investigations currently going on that the so-called liberal media don't ever mention will grow in magnitude...

I hope Liebermann does jump to the GOP. The liberal leadership in the Senate needs to end, before our country goes to hell in a hand basket.

Great! So now the congress can kick back and do nothing for the next 2 years. Just like before.

Bush has proven himself mentally and morally unqualified to decide when and how to wage war and needs to be put on a short leash.

Bush is like a reckless teenager who wrecked the family car so the parents (Congress) is taking the keys away, for his own good.

Insane effort? Bush refuses to listen to anybody but the voices in his head. I call that insane.
