I pretty much know when someone is joking. But, I tend not to laugh easily and I don't make good comebacks. On the rare occasion that I actually think of something to say, often they'll tell me to quit taking things so seriously. It's frustrating. What can I do?

I used to be a lot like that. I took some comedy improv classes and that helped a lot. Now I can easily think up funny things and it helps relax people. I think comedy improv is a good thing to watch because all the lines are unrehearsed. If you stay away from politics, religion and putting people down at least if you are not so fiunny in the beginning you won't offend anyone. It takes practice, try around your family and friends first and ask them to let you know what works. A lot is just having the attitude that life is funny and then go from there. Good luck! This will start you laughing... http://www.funnyjunk.com/

learning to be cocky and sarcastic is all about attitude, it should come out naturally unless you are one of those soft-spoken ones or those that were never raised to speak out of turn or in disrespect.

if people dont know if you are being serious or not in your snappy remarks, showing your smile a few seconds after the comeback will give a clue.
serious remarks have no smile, so please do.

i think its a gift..i guess you just need more exposure to conversations like that, and try to be spontaneous..maybe watching sitcoms will help too.
