Doesn't anyone realize that money is JUST ink on paper. I can't believe we've let our lives get like this. money drives everything. people kill for it, people lose family and freinds for it. doesn't anyone else find this as disgusting as me? If I were in charge I would get rid of money entirely and start using sheeps and seashells. Anyone else have an opinion on this?

Wow, you are brilliant! Seriously. Money is a fiction. But we all accept it. It is a total fiction. But you can take a piece of green paper into a store and give it to a person who will give you the food you need to stay alive, or a wide screen TV, or a car, all because we all accept the fiction that that green paper has value. And its even more symbolic now--its little magnetic blips on computers in banks thousands of miles away! Yet if the right numbers come up, you can walk out of a store with anything you want. And if they don't, you can't even get medicine to stay alive. I have often thought that the real test for insanity ought to be how a person relates to money--if they take a $100 bill and blow their nose on it or clean a window with it, they are insane, but if they put it in their pocket, they are sane. Money is pure fiction. Yet we all accept it. It is amazing.

What you are talking about is simply the barder system. To be honest that is exactly what money is.. but instead of carrying sheep around in your pocket, you are carrying an inked piece of paper which represents how many sheep and seashells you own. The only other solution to that is a communist society where the government gives everyone equal shares of what the government feels you need. You have no say in how much you need or what you need and it is decided by the government.. Is this what you really want?? I know i don't... think about it...

Who is paying for your computer? Your internet access? The electricity to power the computer? The education you needed to type the question? .......
If you want to trade in sheep and seashells, why not move to a country where everyone deals in such equivalents? Many nations in Africa, the mideast, and in some sections of Mexico, live exactly as you describe. They also live without clean water and medical attention, adequate food, clothing and shelter. So, while in the comfort of your home, you type your question from that expensive computer, driven by electricity and an internet service provider, consider the alternatives. You might see our capitalistic society as a much nicer place than you originally thought.

I agree to a point, BUT we need money to live. We have to eat and we need it for everything. Youre right, its our whole lives, but we cant let it RUN our lives to where it pushes our family and friends away, and ppl begin to die over it. Thats when it becomes a problem.*

Our country was built on it,but give it time and we all be walking around with a card that has credits on it so our government can keep tabs on every move we make. Which sounds better now?
