Pete was never one for talk shows or interviews, either. It took a LOT of coaxing to get him to play in the senior tour this year. The man never enjoyed the media attention (the media took revenge by labelling him "boring") or all the travel. I believe he stated that he likes to sleep 10 hours a night or something. He's just an average guy. Not as flashy as Andre or as outspoken as Andy Roddick. I believe he's just enjoying his retirement (he obviously never has to work again if he uses his money even remotely competently).
But hopefully Pete's presence in WTT and the senior tour will be enough for them to show some of them on TV. They showed a WTT match on ESPN2 a few times. But Pete competing on the senior tour with McEnroe and Rios and COurier and Chang will be pretty fun to watch, I think.
Pete also played a fun exhibition match with Robby Ginepri last year. The highlights are somewhere on the USTA website, but it's easier to use YouTube >>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7uLguIT7Mk Pete actually played pretty well, but he's obviously out of shape and a step slower and he's never been a fan of clay but it was still great spectator tennis.

Pete Sampras is reported to be playing the 2007 Championships at Wimbledon. Pete has not played tennis since the 2002 United States Open in which he defeated Andre Agassi 6-3 6-4 5-7 6-4. So Pete is supposed to be playing the Championships at Wimbledon this year.

To be frank, you haven't made a decent effort at finding the answer to your own question. He certainly doesn't have to "earn a living," seeing as he's made tens of millions. Tennis is a lifetime sport which he has not given up. Watching television expecting him to get on won't answer your question. As for seeing him in "tennis events," it isn't like he'll just show up at your local tennis park.
He's done quite a bit in the years since his retirement (your question's a bit outdated), including an exhibition match against Todd Martin somewhat recently. I attended it and got to hit one rally with Pete Sampras as well as catch a few autographs.
Below is a picture of me and Pete at the event:

Sampras has announced he will be playing in World TeamTennis events. He also still makes some money off endorsements and business ventures.

I believe he's going to play some senior events starting this May. He has enough money that he doesn't really need to work anymore ;)

He's probably watching TV to see Federer get closer and closer to his record. I dont think he's feeling that bad now when the Swiss beat him at Wimbledon. He was probably thinking bac then how the hell can i get beat by a Swiss. And now he's probably idolising him. Funny how times change.
