Putting this on again for people that didn't see it before. This is bad that the US government isn't stepping in to try and work something out with Mexico on this. And why would they wait 3 years if it was so serious??

There is the question of extradiction agreement with Mexico..........Then why was Luster still there?? And the question of waiting 3 years is still unanswered.

You can find the petition link on the A&E tv site or Dog the Bounty Hunter site

Hey you're exactly right. He is a citizen of the United States and he did a great thing by capturing a serial rapist, and now our own government is abandoning him.
I think that every American should write their senators and congressmen and let them know that we support Dwayne Chapman (Dog) and also send a message to Mexico in the process.

No amount of petition will change the fact that we have an extradition treaty with Mexico. If we were to prevent this extradition then Mexico can refuse to extradite criminals that we want. This is especially true since this is a high profile case. If we refused to send him then it will be all over the news. Mexico would be a little peeved. They would probably refuse our extraditions just to make us mad.

Was Luster in the hands of Mexican authorities? Had the US requested that Luster be extradited? Did Mexico know where to find Luster? The case of extraditing Dog vs. the case of extraditing Luster is different. Mexico is not going to put out an all points bulletin for just any criminal that the US wants.

I do not think that there are any Mexican legal officials on yahoo answers so you may not get the answer to the 3 year wait. Was there a statute of limitations in Mexico for the crime? Is 3 years or less? If so, then the 3 year wait thing is a point. If Mexico is just picking on Dog because he is famous and they picked up a crime that was 3 years old then that is Mexico's prerogative. It would not change the fact that Dog committed a crime in Mexico.

The US has no right to tell the Mexican judicial system when or to whom to apply the law to. Yes it was good that Andrew Luster was captured but the way he was captured was illegal. Dog did not go to Mexico out of the goodness of his heart he went to try to get the sizable reward !

Dog's an asshole. If he broke a Mexican law, then let him pay the price. If someone from Mexico came here and did what he did, wouldn't we jail him?
