if you are talking about the atom itself i would use different colored clay balls to represent the protons and neutrons and maybe some kind of wires with clay balls surrounding the nucleus to represent the shells, orbitals and electrons

Since potassium is a metal, you could just use pingpong balls arranged correctly to model the metal. You should be able to find a diagram of the structure of metals in any chemistry text book.
