Was Nat Turner trying to head to the Great Dismal Swamp when he escaped?

Golly, I can't remember anymore and a quick internet search isn't turning up anything. I know that he successfully hid in a cave for a good deal of time (from August 22 or 23 to October 30). The best bet to find out more about where he intended on going, read The Confessions of Nat Turner by Thomas Ruffin Gray. Just beware of the bias from the author, I seem to remember it being pretty biased.
