To find out the past sales history you should go to your county clerk's office. Building permit's &CO's, local building department. Current and past taxes tax receivers office and building info such as type of house, square footage, # of bathrooms, lot size etc you would go to your county assessors office.

Go to you local court house,title office.There you can do a title search and read back many,many years of a properties history.

What kind of history?
Ownership and additions = The tax appraiser for that county.
Permits and work = County courthouse
Deaths & violence or Ghosts and goblins... I have no idea? Ask your oldest neighbor???
