i own a repair shop and the factory one is an exact replacement for it,and the after market one is just as good ,its just cheaper in price, and will save you money, both are easy to put on and either one will work as good as the other one will,i have tried both of them before ,and i kind of like the after market ones ,because they save you money, and come with a guarantee, same as the original also does, you,ll save a lot of money by using an after market one on it,installation is about the same on both of them, good luck i hope this help,s.

Factory Catalytic Converter

It's tough to say. I've bought goods for cars off of ebay that have been really good, and really bad. Check the reviews. The difference is probably in the goals of the manufacturer. A factory catalytic converter is made to keep emissions as low as possible, and as a result it restricts air flow significantly and if you have an engine problem can quickly clog. If your catalytic converter has clogged, you need to have someone run codes on your computer system, there is probably a sensor problem.

The aftermarket catalytic converter is probably made to be bare minimum to pass emissions, and is probably allows exhaust to flow more freely resulting in more power.

I'm not aware of headers coming with catalytic converters, they're usually on the intermediate pipe, after the exhaust manifold or headers. Catalytic converters are required by most states because they clean the car's emissions to stem air pollution. Removing them allows the exhaust to flow more freely but the risk of being caught without them outweighs the performance gains of removing them. Not having the cats can result in a large fine and penalties. You can replace the factory catalytic converters with aftermarket "high flow" units to remain emissions-legal and gain a few horsepower.

I recently had one changed and used an aftermarket cc. The one I got was specific for my car and went on w/ no problem.

If you get a generic one, the mechanic may have to rig up some mounts but if it's vehicle specific there shouldn't be a problem.

Well you dont really need to by OEM parts. You can buy after market but check with the sales rep to see that its a direct fit. Why dont you just go to a junk yard and get one? www.car-part.com
