The solar system is the central star, our sun, and its orbitting planets(8).

Many millions of stars exist close together, forming many more solar systems like ours, but we generally refer to ours, when we say 'solar system'.

These many million stars form a cluster, immensely huge, called galaxies, which are of all kinds of different shapes and size.

And looking further, we have billions of galaxies, each with billions of stars floating in the endless empty cold space which we call the universe, a collection of all these galaxies and solar systems and everything you and i know of.

hope i helped.

An atom is similar to that of the solar system in structure.
The atom has for its center the nucleus with the electrons revolving around it (nucleus); the solar system has the sun as the center with the planets revolving around it. The electrons around the nucleus orbit as they revolve like the planets revolving around the sun. Between the sun and each of the planets, there is an attractive force which causes the planets to revolve around it (sun) with certain angular speeds. The sun, like the nucleus is stationary in its position. The planets have their axis of rotation like the electrons.
