Our car is getting harder to start. Sometimes it is fine but at other times we hear a single click when you turn the key. The battery is fine because the lights and radio still work. But we were under the impression that when your starter went out you heard lots of clicks not just one. Any thoughts. My husband has done some of the work on this car but not lots. We would like to avoid taking it to a machenic and have to spend lots of money because we are moving to Europe in a few month and won't be taking it with us,

best place to start if you don't want to see a mechanic is replace starter they are relatively cheap although could be difficult to do as some vans are very tight for working room. Actually befor you do that you should make sure your getting full power to the starter. You can do this with a set of jumper cables
attatch to batterry as when jumping, ground other end right to starter casing , then touch hot to starte if it worklws well for several tries then youmay just need to clean conections on your battery and possiblt on starter. Usually multiple clicking is a low or poor conection to the battery....hope that helps Lets

This POS may have an external solenoid. Follow the large red cable form the battery. It either goes to the starter or a solenoid. If the solenoid, make sure both connections are tight. You can turn the key on and jump across the two large terminals on the solenoid to see if the starter turns over.

If no solenoid, then it's in the starter and that is bad.
