I am just wondering how often people get hostile emails, unexpectedly pleasant emails, or lecherous advances. Has it caused you to restrict you IM or email listing?

All the time. I am guilty of sending a few "mean" emails, but I feel that the advice they gave was really on the bad side of wrong.

I had a chick trolling my answers, and anythign she didn't agree with, got reported to NO end..pathetic really. hell, even tried to blacklist me..didn't work..ha ha.

So, no I don't "restrick" my IM or email settings, I almost find it cowardly. I don't mind if people have a problem with me, good for them for thinking outside the box. And yeah, you get the random pervert, but thank god for the "ignore" button..now if only that worked in real life..

I've gotten a few seriously hostile emails....... and I've evn answered a couple back.

Usually it is because they didn't really read the answer and just picked something out that didn't fit with there veiws. Usually that is why they have an issue or problem in the first place because they don't want to look at all of the angles.

In return emails I notice that often the reason they didn't like the answer is because they left out the most important detail pertinent to the question in the first place.

i have, and i have not only restricted email and IM contact, I have been monitoring it due to the nature of the content of the harassment and the frequency. There are ways to just go to far, and that's when I will no longer heighten my own security just to side-step it. I have taken the steps necessary to prosecute if need be.

I've gotten some harassing e-mails becuase people don't like my answer, personally I think people take some things way too seriously. I will read those harassing e-mails, and then delete them. Just gotta have some thick skin to those harassing e-mails.

No, I don't get harrassed. Only one time did a person ask me about an answer I gave and they weren't hostile.

I haven't looked to see what your posts are, but if it is a problem you should probably block contacts from this site.

I have occasionally had a few MCPs attack me for being a feminist, but they're easy to deal with. Everyone else who has contacted me has been very friendly.
