Havent looked in the store yet...But how will I know if a computer desktop package will be able to burn CD/DVD's?

Just make sure it has either the DVD+R/W (for DVDs) or CD-RW icon or it says something like SuperDrive (on Macs).

Almost every new computer these days has the ability to burn DVD's and CD's.

The way to tell is to read the specifications that are printed on the box or that are listed on the website.

buy a notebook most of them have both.
sony vayo(Wayo?) and dell are the best.
by the way u can buy a good mark yourselffrom computer stores.
