i've already checked drivers and cleaned my registry. i'm not sure what else i can do now except take it in and pay for some one else to fix it. this is a work computer and i can't be without it for that long. i'm barely functioning as it is without my touchpad. please help me.

touchpads can burn out, if your positive that it isn't the driver, bring it to a repair shop and have them check the touchpad, you may have to buy a replacement pad, as it is nearly impossible to fix a dead touchpad.

If you are sure the drivers are installed, I would still suggest going and downloading the updated drivers from the manufacturers website.

Then, I would double check to make sure you did not simply turn the touchpad off. Often times, newer computers will have a button that is near the touchpad that you can press to disable the touchpad. Take a look.

If you still have no luck, you will probably need to replace the touchpad. You would then be better off just buying a mouse.

The ribbon that connects the touchpad might have come undone. You (or someone else) might have to go in there and reconnect it. It's not that hard, just a lot of screws. What ever you do, do NOT take it to the Geek Squad. They are the biggest group of incompetent morons I've ever encountered. Someone's friend's brother's cousin might be better suited to help you out, or the tech team at your job can do it.
