They are co-captains. Drury wears the 'C' on his jersey for away games and Briere wears the 'C' on his jersey for home games. It might be the other away around but thats the pattern. It might not be home and away, one has it on the light colored jerseys, and the other on dark jerseys.

There are 3 captains on the Buffalo Sabres (Not many people knew that.) Drury and Briere switch every game or every other game for the captain spot. They do switch off, but people don't know is that Teppo Numminen (Defenseman on the team) is also an assistant captain. But since he isn't no Nicklas Lidstrom, he never becomes the 100% captain. But yes, they switch every game or every other game, but Briere will be it for awhile with Drury out indefinetly with concussion-like symptoms after the cheap shot/late hit on Drury from Chris Neil last night in the Sabres vs Sens game where it drew the huge fight.

The Buffalo Sabres, the only team in the NHL to have official co-captains, alternate the C on the jersey every game. One game, Briere will have it, the next, Drury will have it. However, Briere always wears the C in his hometown of Montreal no matter what, and Drury will always wear the C in Boston where he played college hockey for Boston University. They simply alternate captaincy every other game to be fair. Also, to comment on someone else who said Teppo Numinen was ever a captain, is untrue. The assistant captaincy alternates defensively between Campbell and Numminen; offensively the assistants are Afinogenov and occasionally Jason Pominville.

Drury and Brier are co-captains, splitting the games evenly. Buffalo is the only team with official co-captains, although Minnesota rotates their captain' s role amongst 3 players on a monthly basis. Pittsburgh and Philly have not appointed captains for this season, going with 3 alternate captains (A on their jerseys). There may be one more vacancy, but can't think of it.

i'd be in effortless words the minority, yet i imagine Briere, Drury, and Vanek can come decrease back to the Sabres next season. The sales cap will upward push to about $40 seven-40 8 million next season. the more suitable 2 million will be utilized to re-signal Drury. Zubrus will likely walk (with Stafford taking his position) and both Numminen will retire or Spacek will pass (or both), which will launch sufficient money for Briere and Vanek. Nathan Paetsch will fill in finished-time for Numminen or Spacek. per chance it really is in simple terms me being naive, yet i imagine Drury, Briere, and Vanek will go back to Buffalo next season.

They are Co-captains and they switch game to game who wears the "C". It really doesn't matter what the pattern is, everyone knows they are the captains and that's good enough.

they are co-captains.they have had such a talented team for the past couple of years that one year they even switched captains from game to game.they are really a diverse team.watch out for them!!!!!!! last nights game against ottawa showed just how much talent they have even in the rookies, statistically the senators should have won that game.they had their whole starting line up healthy, unlike buffalo they had 5 rookies in there playing.they played with alot of grind and guts.last nights game is what makes hockey exciting.even though i think the refs need to take a refresher course on how to call a game
