Whether or not you are conservative or liberal we should all have high ideals we try to live up to. As we all know, we do fail. It doesn't mean we should lower our standards.

The same reason Bill Clinton is being given credit for being a feminist although he sexually harassed women.
People can espouse ideals, and fall short themselves.
That's irritating, to be sure, but that does not mean that the underlying philosophy is wrrong.
I don't know what Rush Limbaugh has to say about drug abuse. But the fact that he has fallen short does not mean that we should all take drugs, any more than the fact that Clinton's relations with women leave something to be desired means that his support of legalized abortion, family medical leave, etc. is wrong.
Is Rush Limbaugh's personal life a mess? Let's say yes. Does that affect the rightness or wrongness of what he has to say? Should we raise taxes SOLELY because he says lower them? If he said 2+2 + 4, would that make it 5 because Rush is a "bad person?"
Focus on the message, not the messenger.
Otherwise, the only people we will listen to (much less elect) are absolute saints, or people who espouse no moral values (which includes equal treatment of women, blacks, etc.) at all.

I think that you are confusing personalities with principles. Unfortunately, you can sling mud on both sides of the aisle and point out personal flaws in individuals (e.g. the Clinton comments above). The real issue is which course is correct for our country. I happen to disagree strongly with the brand of conservatism espoused by Mr. Limbaugh but I do not think that his personal problems are relevant to whether or not his views are correct.

So should I hold YOU to task for every stupid thing liberals do? Trust me - you don't even want to open *that* door.
Don't be such a partisan tool.
