Hello, I have an Acer, and have been extemely happy with it, until this exact same problem occurred.
It turn out to be the lead that runs from the electric to the laptop.
I had been working using mains electric, but with the battery in for a number of months. This is wrong. You should only insert the battery when not using electric. Anyhow, if you leave the electric on, even though you shut down the laptop it diminishes the life of the lead. All you need to do is have the lead tested, or jump straight in and buy a new one. Then take the battery out...also ensure that the electric supply is turned off every night. laptops are not like CPU's.............Well so I am told!!...lol says she who learned to type on a manual typewriter..lol Good luck

Undock it, remove the battery for 10 mins.

Replace battery, open lid and hit the power button.

If still nothing, it could be the batter is totally dead & is sucking all the power.

Some laptops won't work without a battery, but many will.

So you could try removing the battery, plugging the external power lead into the laptop (rather than going via a docking station) & try again.

because the computer won't start at all, the problem lies in either the motherboard (unlikley), the processor burning out (likley) or a cable coming loose in the laptop.
