You are probably a bit shy and need to concentrate on ONE person in the audience, perhaps two-- and forget about what people THINK about what you are saying, YOU are giving the presentation, not asking for their approval at that very second.
First thing to do is stand up and say "please hold your applause until you have all of the facts" or something like that to break the ice.

Be very familiar with your presentation and keep point-crib sheets handy so that you don't forget where you are in the presentation. Use support data, charts, and visuals if you can, and give yourself a break, look at them YOURSELF as you are talking about them.
Go for it, you CAN do it.

When i had to do presentations and tests, I always had very large panic attacks no matter how many deep breaths I took it never went away. So I normally talk a small shot of tequlia before each presentation or test becasue it would help. Not enough to get drunk but just enought to chase the butterflies away.

Try practicing with class mates outside of class or when you are giving your presentation try focusing on someone your comfortable with......i've been around theather alot and what helped me is going through inductions for becoming a thespian and performing infront of peers in high school is the worst. You see everything from people laughing sleeping not paying attention and everything in between. I even get nervous sometimes when im on stage so dont think that all people who go on stage dont face it try the suggestions i said at first and this should help ........hopefully

One thing that always helped me, was laughing before I gave my presentation. I used to give presentations in front of thousands of people several times a year, and I always brought someone with me that could ALWAYS make me laugh. It loosens you up, and you are able to not be so intimidated. I never thought that imagining everyone naked would ever work, and when I tried it, it didn't. Try to find something that will help loosen you up. It may help, too, to go the gym before your presentation, so that your body is not so tense.
Good luck!!

Two suggestions;
Talk with your family doctor about medications that might help, there are two types of medicatins that can help, beta blockers and SSRI's. Your doctor can help.
second, join Toastmasters International. Spend a year in their informal meetings and you will never have problems in front of groups again. Great fun, good contacts for the future, and a real inexpensive cure for fear of public speaking! Good Luck

you may think my answer is dumb. it is hard to fix the problem right away. i was kind of like you, now i love speaking in front of people. but the way to get more confident and comfortable is to go out and have fun. go to those parties, let lose (doesnt have to involve alcohol.) go flirt with those guys and just be free. when you are free there, it will help you be the same once you get in the classroom. good luck, and kick some a ss
