No, the show is now going down the road of the X-Files.
Too many questions need answering and I don't believe the writers can do so.
1. Polar Bear?
2. Jacks Fathers coffin without body?
3. The numbers
4. Males getting pregnant?
5. Time travel regarding Desmond?
6. Smoke monster?
7. Pirate ship?
8. The book Carrie?
9. Ancient statues regarding Mythology?
10. Locke having the ability of walking?
11. Sun pregnant?
12. Eye Patch guy?
13. Guy in skyscraper during the Dharma film?
14. The Map?
15. Not asking anyone of the others how they got there?
16. Not asking anyone of the others why they took the baby?
17. Not asking anyone of the others what is happening?
I could go on and on, the show is getting stupid.

I truthfully believe that the initial success of the show has led the writers to think they're "all that", and that they've stopped doing what made the show so great in the first place. It's no longer mysteries, now it's just stupid questions and even more stupid questions, and when they do give answers, they're stupid answers. Come on now, did anyone REALLY care what Jack's tattoos meant? All the Lost questions I've read, that's one I never saw. And what was the point of saying "You're not on your island" and then saying "Oh we don't live here, we just work here" and then going back to the big Island. If they don't get it together, all Lost fans will be watching Medium on Wednesday nights. Or L&O, or wrestling, or Home Shopping Network.

Have faith fellow losties! The writers/producers do have a plan. In fact, the show is scheduled to be done after season 6 and the writers have promised they won't go the way of X-Files. The last few episodes are already written to make sure the writers don't lose their way. Yes, there are a lot of questions, but that's what makes the show so much fun to watch!
I personally don't like the purgatory theory, because I think it's too obvious, but you're reasoning behind it makes perfect sense...

there was a special dateline last year that showed the producers of the show, the interviewer asked them if there was a plan, if they knew how the show was going to end, or if they were making it all up as they go along. They said definately not and that there is an answer to every question and mystery. I am now starting to think that they are full of it and they have no clue. I dont know how much more I can take of this show...only to have it end as someone's dream or something stupid like that.

I am hoping it doesn't end where it was just a dream.
But from how the last season ended, I'm guessing that the father of Desmond's girlfriend set him up on the race around the world. Knowing that the electromagnetism of the island would mess up his compass and lure him to the island.
The guy must have had connections with the Dharma Initiative.

I am worried if they ever get there I might not be there to see it. My biggest problem is they keep bringing in new characters and never let us see what is going on with the main characters from season 1. I want to see what is happening with Locke, Hurley, Jen and Sun I am interested in those characters and I am losing patience with all the new characters every week. I am wondering if this season will end without ever seeing them.
