try turning key to run position (not start) & wait 5 sec before cranking to start. Most common fuel line check valve failed, & you have no fuel press. @ injectors @ startup. If this solves problem, have replaced,(not ness.) or use this proceedure from now on

First, pull the coil twine from the middle of the distributor cap, then carry it some million/8 of an inch from some steel portion of the engine on a similar time as you have somebody else turn the ignition key so which you will crank the motor. you need to the two see and pay attention a spark between the top of the coil twine and the steel of the engine if the ignition is firing. If the ignition equipment is working (which i'll assume this is), then I strongly suspect that the reason your truck won't start up is using the fact the gasoline in the tank has been sitting for numerous years, and isn't any longer any reliable. Sorry for the undesirable information, yet this includes dropping the gasoline tank and removing each and all of the undesirable gasoline from it, besides as disconnecting the gasoline line and pumping each and all of the undesirable gasoline from it besides.

The early 5.3L were notorious to go through fuel pressure regulators causing hard starts. They aren't the cheapest part on the truck, but I'd start there. 90% of the time on the 5.3L, that's your problem.

have you ever had a jump start? if so the battery may have low cold cranking amps (cca) or it is possible that it may have a bad cell. in any case i would look for an Interstate battery they last long! another thing is if you hear clicking or have to try more than once to start the car, the starter may need to be replaced. good luck!

low fuel pressure, start with a fuel filter and injector cleaner. If not then the pump might be bad.
