If you don't know a lot about the newest computers and what's in them, or what you need, go to a Best Buy or Circuit City, then you can talk to a human, who can ask you questions, they don't get paid on commission like most people think so they'll try to find you the best thing. If you want to know a lot about the new Vista and what the glitches are, what it does and does not work with. Then I'd also suggest going into a store.
If you want price, and you already know about computers, and what you need, or you want to build your own then go on a website like NewEgg, or Zip Zoom Fly, or TigerDirect.
Personally I just buy a computer from the store. I got over the Neon Lights and feeling cool because I could build my own, years ago. It's just a head-ache, it's less convenient. And if something doesn't work, those websites are going to be a pain in the *** to get support from.

I like tigerdirect.com they have very good service. What you really want to do is go to consumer.com and check out the reliability of differant site's if purchasing on-line or even at a store and check there reviews on the companies. Best buy has very good service plan also.

..the reason why i bought my computer/s at Staples Canada is because I could actually see it and try it out - and take it home and try it and return it for a full refund within two weeks if I didnt like it. I shopped around where I live and no other store would give me a money-back option.
I have problems with certain monitors (vision) so this was a good option for me - and I would wait until they have a sale.
