Instead of just answering the question. Its so annoying. Yahoo has to many grammar police. Besides it not always because people cant spell, sometimes people just cant type.

In a way I see where you're coming from, because this is an informal forum, and people write in shorthand all the time.

I, for one, believe that how one writes is reflective of her/his character. If your work - be it an essay, article, blog, even a Yahoo answer entry - is replete with MISTAKES, it becomes weapons for critics (and trolls) to bash you with. Your question becomes INDECIPHERABLE. It would lose its credence. And so do you. People would take you only with a grain of salt.

That's why you should "know the rules." Not "follow." Breaking the rules isn't making a mistake, no sir. Rather, its attacking the established convention of "right and wrong." You can break them as long as you KNOW them. Breaking the rules without knowing them is recklessly inutile. You're better off NOT writing, let alone posting anything in the Internet.

Ok, it's a given that not everyone has perfect grammar. If people criticize you for your mistakes, then have your work proofread, for Chrissakes. It's not a weakness, it's a strength because you acknowledge your mistakes. That's the first step. I'm sure you've got friends who can proofread for you. All you gotta do is ask.

There you go. Have I made my point?

Caveat scriptor.

Yeah, I don't get why people really point that out. If you can understand what someone is trying to say than that's all that matters right? I think people just do that because they don't have anything helpful or a relevant response, so they nit-pick peoples grammar. But if someone does have a problem typing there is Spell Check.

It is for your own good. For the most part the posters with terrible grammar come from the political Left - they argue that it's unfair that they make a low wage. But by posting messages that are poorly spelled and poorly worded, they prove the opposite point - that it's their own ignorance and inattention to detail that has kept them back, thus that it is perfectly fair that they have not succeeded.

I usually don't correct people, especially ones I don't know, but, I find it annoying.......kinda like dragging nails down a chalkboard....it just irks me when people either don't talk properly or don't write proper. It doesn't have to be the queens english, but there must be limits. I relate it to talking with someone who speaks broken english, the phrases are all jumbled and you have to stop to think what they are saying...I don't want to have to work hard to understand someone...

It is painful to see a person make so many mistakes and not say anything.

Language is the material with which we think. If we are sloppy with our language, we are likely to be sloppy with our thinking.
