Miszilla,
I feel her anxiety. If she or you are able to grab the window and try to pull it up as you activate the switch might help. Other wise I would get a clear cloths bag from the local cleaners and cover the opening. Use a clear package tape not Masking or Duct tape. That is the quickest fix I can give you. Good Luck!!!

I have an Oldsmobile Alero 2000, and my power windows did the same thing. They went up but they wouldnt come down. Every day for a week I pressed the button for a really long time while trying to lift the window up. It worked one day, finally! I put a piece of duct tape on the button so I wouldnt ever use it again. I don't know if this helps, but I thought I let you know I have had a similar experience with rain.

Sounds like the switch is bad. If you can get the switch out you can jump the wires and run power direct to the window motor. There are two wires to the motor, just take a ground wire (negative side of bat) and a power(positive side of bat) and hook to the two wires. One way will make the window go up, the other will make it go down. Or just buy a new switch and plug it in.
