YES.
My doc said she had heard other mom's say this, but had no experience (medically) to say it's true. But, when my son gets new teeth his poo becomes runnier and he gets the worst diaper rash. That's how I always know there are new ones coming in!
Believe me, mom's know.

Absolutely! It seems so very odd but all 3 of my girls have gotten diaper rashes while they are teething. It is very odd! I just took extra care when I knew that they were teething to change their diapers a little more frequently than I already did and I always layered up with diaper creme and baby powder.
All babies react differently to teething and obviously there could be another reason for the diaper rash but it happened with all 3 of my girls--and they did not get diarrhea when they were teething. Aside from the diaper rash we would occasionally get a low grade fever, lots of drooling and runny noses!

The diaper rash stems from diarrhea. The baby can swallow tiny amounts of blood when the teeth pop through and that can give them runny bowel movements. So it can happen, but it's not a direct result from the teething process.

No. Diaper rash comes from the diaper and what is in the diaper. Some babies are also more sensitive and get rashes easily. My oldest had to have a prescription (and I changed him frequently) -- he had really sensitive skin. My youngest had no problems at all.

It has not been proven that a baby can get diaper rash from teething.

yes. I like the overnight desitin. That kind of rash only lasts a few days, but it's pretty painful for the little ones. You also might want to try some infant ibuprofen -- but check with the doctor on the dosage appropriate for the baby's weight.

Yes they can...its the acid build up in their stools that cause the rash...That is the only way I knew that my son was teething, because he was always happy.
