Sorry, I've heard that one before. But that does give me an advantage -- I've had time to think it over!

My hypothesis... as they began to fall, the well-known forces which keep the cat on its paws and the butter side down would create a rotating motion. This would result in the world's first perpetual motion machine, as the rotating duo hover above the floor or ground.

While there would be great reward in creating such a machine, I can't bring myself to do the experiments, as I like cats too much to annoy them.

Hence I am putting all my scientific research into helping farmers.... I'm perfecting a system whereby drought is relieved by driving a car into the middle of a dry field and applying a coat of wax (but not yet buffing it). It nearly always rains, so I'm optimistic about the Nobel price. Wish me luck.

You've described a paradox. Since a cat always lands on its feet, and buttered toast always lands buttered side down, the only thing that could happen is that the cat would hover mid air and slowly rotate.

The toast would land butter side down, then bounce, allowing the cat to hit the ground on its feet.

Great sense of humor!

Well, for one, you'd ruin a perfectly good piece of toast.

Not to mention that the cat would never trust you again. If any decent people were around to see this heinous act, you would also end up in prison and/or paying a hefty fine for animal cruelty. (I think that's too lenient, really. Then again, I'm biased. I have 10 cats.)

AAAw, come on that's easy, the cat would land on it's side!

P.S...I don't think anyone here knows what you're really asking, they seem to assume you want to do this to your cat...lighten up people, it's a hypothetical situation...you know, 'cause cats "always land on their feet" and buttered toast always lands "butter side down."

hmm...thats kinda like "which came first, the chicken or the egg"

A cat always lands on its feet, but then again buttered toast lands buter side down.

I's think the cat is stronger and would land on its feet.

Question for you. How would you feel if i did that to you but instead pushed you off a cliff. That is just cruel and mean. Animals have feelings to and can feel pain.
