Depends on the particular review you're reading I suppose.
The review that I'm reading right now says:
"That isn't brimstone we're smelling on Ghost Rider. It's something else."
"A sodden, listless mess that wouldn't thrill even the most ardent Hot Topic enthusiast."
"This supernatural action/thriller can't decide whether it wants to go for laughs or chills, and some of the supposedly chilling moments are the silliest and most laughable ones."

the tv says that about alot of movies.... i kinda want to see it but i dont really like Nicholas Cage... i cant picture him being Ghost Rider at all. i have trouble picturing him being in alot of movies that he made really.... when they were making superman returns and were trying to find someone to play superman i heard he tried out for the part....

Depends on your age. My 4 year old loved it!! Although there were a few parts where he got scared, but not bad. For anyone over 14 though it isn't a must see, its pretty good, but worth waiting to rent. It is a little corny...

because of the graphics involved and as for the reviews and comments by others if it was so poorly made why was it number 1 three weeks in a row when it first opened?

It got like 17% approval rating on rottentomatoes.com Hardly a must see. Most people though it SUCKED.
Besides nicholas cage is a completely inapproriate choice to cast as ghostrider.

2)Because Johnny Blaze is a complex character(For those into comics)
3)The special effects
