Generally intelligence is a turn on for me, providing that if they're more intelligent than me or think they are they aren't condescending or patronising with it.

The only reason intelligence should get on a person's nerves is if that person either lacks intelligence, or is mistaking intelligence for personality. Some of the smartest people I know just don't really care that they are smart. These are independent, practical folks, and high intelligence doesn't really matter to them. They will value people more for their attitude than for their intelligence.
Yet, at the same time, there are also very smart people who embrace intelligence and will only respect you if you're as intellectual as they are. Now THOSE people can be annoying. But don't blame it on their IQ! A person of any personality can be smart. It's the attitude that matters. When a girl is smart, yet appreciates non-intellectual values like kindness, compassion, and honesty, it is a definite turn on for me.

Intelligence is never a problem, intelligent people would always appreciate another with knowledge, providing they don't act like a know it all, and allow others to express thier thoughts also, it could be wonderful to find a person who is not superficial.

I find it an attraction to be able to have an intelligent conversation with the person I am with.
It beats sitting and looking at each other all night

of course it's attractive, stupidity is the biggest turn off I can imagine, I couldn't have a boyfriend that I couldn't have a conversation with! Same with my friends, I'm not stuck up or anything but I can't be polite to people who have nothing to say for themselves, it's so boring. They don't have to be the cleverest people in the world but they have to at least know what's going on in the world and be able to talk about it!

Too much intelligence makes things boring and people who are very intelligent get on my nerves sometimes because they don't know when to stop in the middle of a conversation, they don't have much common sense and have sheltered lives.

I appreciate it. Nothing turns me off like being told "Talk normal. I'm not a f*ckin' rocket scientist." Well, you know what, my vocabulary isn't that big, really! Get a freakin' brain, people! I prefer to be able to have an intelligent discussion with somebody, rather than do the Beavis and Butthead 'heh heh... you said fart...'

Intelligence can be attractive unless the person knows it and keeps letting you know about it, that is boring.

it is very attractive in a person who doesn't define themselves as intelligent. my husband is a real brain box in many ways but he never boasts or shows off about it- I think that is so nice, he would also never think himself more intelligent then another person, he is a very kind down to earth man.
