Frank Rijkard must be really dumb not to let Etoo and Gudjonsen (came out 5 min before the end or smth) play. He played against Liverpool with no strikers, what an idiot! With all due respect, Messi is not a pure striker... Do you agree with me?

true Messi is not a pure striker, he can create much like ronaldinho, but he really can't finish. that's why saviola started as the striker, but he had an off night. so unfortunate because he is great and he had been sticking it to all of the barca mgmt by playing great futbol of late. personally i can't stand gudjonsen because he misses so much, i've seen him be in the wrong spot or completely miss the mark so many time this season. it infuriates me to see him miss so much. like everyone else i would've wanted eto'o to play, but if he is not at a 100% or really close i would not endanger him more. if comes back prematurely and reaggravates his knee then he will surely be done for the rest of the season. barca has to wait it out just a little bit longer. he needs to be ready to play. rijkaard is not dumb/nuts, he know's his players well and what he can get out of them.

Etoo was sort of injured and so Frank Rjikard did not want to take a chance with him as if he gets any further injury, it will be a big bother. Also maybe he wanted to give Etoo a sort of punishment for not coming on in the last five mins of the LaLiga game. But in the other two facts i completely agree with you. Gudjonsen should have been played from the start and Messi should not have been given the striking role. He is an excellent mid-fielder but only an average striker.
So in a way Frank Rjikard is sort of an idiot.

He's really just trying to work with what he has. Rijkaad don't want to rush Etoo to the field, To be fair messi can be quite productive in that position.
We don't know what result has been achieved on the practice, so it's hard to know if the decision is based on players performance or what he wants..
But hey I'm a barca fan and I'm not liking these few weeks with the new tactic...
