It has to be like, a made up story. I have to choose from four ideas the teacher gave us and it only has to be two pages long.
But I just seem to have no imagination. I can't randomly think up stuff on the spot. It's like my brain is just frozen. And whenever I finally do think of something, the essay turns out to be way longer than 2 pages. I think it is almost physically impossible for me to write a short essay.
Can anyone help me? How can I think of a good idea for an essay?
This is really stressing me out.

the 5 ideas (sorry, not 4) are:
1) Your fave pop group/wtv are playing one concert in the country and u have no ticket. write about how you go anyway.
2)What the clothes u wear say about you.
3)An event that changed my life
4)an essay starting with "It was the first time I was away from my friends and family..."
5)It happened by magic.

i dont know why i find this so hard

When I was going to school, I always felt stymied when having to write an original story. I would open a blank document in word processing and then just sit and stare at my monitor, my mind as blank as the page on which I was supposed to be writing.

A kind teacher gave me a helpful hint.

DON'T sit down to write until you've worked the story out in your head. Blank paper or a blank computer screen can actually CREATE a writer's block.

Now this may sound pretty silly, but it worked for me: Sit down in front of a mirror and look at yourself. Then start talking to yourself in the mirror. Ask yourself questions. Talk as though you're talking to another person.

To get you started:
1. What is your fav music group?
2. They're playing next weekend in a town less than 100 miles from where you live. How could you physically get to the concert?
3. You don't have any money for a ticket. What could you do to earn the money? (don't forget....this is your FAV group....you'd even sell your video games to your best friend to get there. What else could you do to get the money?)
4. OK....how about getting in to see the concert without a ticket? How could you do that? Sneak in? How? Get a job as an usher or ticket taker? How?
5. How are you going to get permission from your folks to go?
6. How are you going to get back home after the concert?

Just sit there and talk to yourself in the mirror. Ask yourself questions (these and any others you can think up), and TALK to yourself. After you've asked and answered the questions and talked the possibilities out, THEN sit down to write. Jot down your main points, put them in order, then fill in the blanks. If it goes over two pages, cut out the excess and narrow the paper down to just the most important points.

You can do it. You DO have an imagination (everyone does)....you just need to jump-start it by talking out the subject BEFORE you sit down to write. Don't let a blank sheet of paper or a blank computer screen intimidate you. It's just a tool.

I find that the best way for me to write a short essay is to create an outline first, that way I know how I plan to lay out my essay before I begin. Stick to the outline....if you do it will keep you from repeating yourself. A prewrite also helps, write one paragraph about a topic that is meaningful to you and build from it. Write the paragraph a few days before you write the essay so you have time to think about it. Good luck

You were able to write a long question here in Yahoo! answers - that means to say that you can write a good imaginative story as well. Try to make something cohesive of what you wrote here and what the topics that have been given.

Try writing about something that has personally happened to you. You don't have to let anyone know you are the subject. But a moment in your life when you experienced something that has stayed with you is aways a good idea.

First of all, just think about the easiest one the teacher gave you. just sit at the table, put some music on, and don't think too hard about what you're trying to do. That just gives you a headache.
Just think of whatever she asked you to do, and even if its longer than two pages, it doesn't matter, put all the good ideas you can think of in..

My fave group is McFLY so you could write about for instence how you accidently got locked in the boot of their toor bus and how one of the members had to come and get something out of the boot and found you... Then you could go on and talk about how he treated you. Did he throw you out? Or did he introduce you to the rest of the band? Sorry if it is no ggood. But I hope it helps you :)

Just think of ANYTHING. And then write about in 2 pages. Pick something you like to talk about, but don't talk about it alot.

Imagine this you will get zero on the paper. Think about it and see what you want to be on the paper. What do you want the reader to know.
What is the theme of your paper. How can you engage the readers????
