Spyware protection:
With any antivirus software, also install "Windows Defender" (free) for active spyware protection.

I recommend every computer have these four free programs installed and run weekly or as needed.
They do not take the place of active virus and spyware protection.

You will have to do what the rest of us do -- live life on the edge or pay Norton for AV protection. About $39 a year is a lot better than having your PC ruined by a virus.

I was using Norton and like you i thought it too expensive.I went to Wal Mart and bought the McAfee Internet Security Suite for $40.00. I really like it and it does a very good job. I really like the site advisor that lets you know if a website has been associated with viruses and illegal practices. And is very simple to use.I have the 2007 edition.
