The name "Fall Out Boy" was chosen when the band asked the crowd in their second show what their name should be and an audience member shouted out "Fallout Boy,"[citation needed] the name of superhero Radioactive Man's sidekick on the animated TV show The Simpsons. The band was unaware of the Simpsons reference until later. When the creators of the Simpsons found out about Fall Out Boy's name, the band feared that they would be sued; however, no legal action about the name has ever been taken

Yes. After playing their second gig they asked the audience what they should be called and someone shouted out "Fallout boy" which as some know is the comicbook sidekick of Bart on the Simpson's. They decided to keep it because they thought it sounded better than any of the ones they came up with they had three I think and I only remember one "Forget Me Not".
The reason the person in the audience shouted it out was because he thought Andy Hurley looked like a character off of the Simpson's.
So they made it three words and ta-da: Fall Out Boy was born.
And yeah at first they thought they were gonna be sued but the show never pressed charges so yeah.
I hope this helps~LOVE
