If the United States attacks Iran, can someone foresee what would be the chain reaction of events, which would directly lead to the III-rd World War? For instance, US attacks Iran; Iran launches missiles on Israel; Israel retaliates and its rockets hit Kuwait by mistake; the Persian Gulf countries (primarily Kuwait, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Oman) launch an attack on Israel, Turkey - a member of NATO - allows the US to launch attacks on Iran from its soil, and Iran attacks Turkey. Another NATO members come in aid, and Bulgaria, Romania, Greece launch attacks by air on Iran too. Iran - in defence - attacks the European countries, and the WW III breaks down (there could also be scenarios of North Korea and India x Pakistan "nuclear" behaviour).
Can anyone suggest other plausible scenarios?

2Paul B: Honey, you are wrong. How can you be a realist and yet you are so irrational in your thinking! Iran wouldn't set off 50 bombs in the US, and the "mushroom" cloud won't happen, because there is no way an Iranian agent can bring a nuclear bomb into the US soil. At present.. most of the world is being silenced of their TRUE feelings towards USA and Israel.. laws have inhibited people from speaking their minds..
If WW3 starts.. the truth will come out.. and no doubt Israel will be nuked out of existance.. and sure half the planet will be wiped out.. but USA will most likely be attacked by almost every other nation.. even so called allies will revolt as leading governments will be quickly overthrown around Europe to favor the majority.. and the majority are anti-USA.. on a global level!!
The world is tense at present.. because USA is the most irresponsible super power we've ever seen.. it has done nothing but favor itself and Israel at the expense of everyone else..
The level of hypocrisy and conspiracy is just frightening at present.. it really is.. I seriously doubt that the world will sit back and allow USA to start a war against Iran who is doing nothing wrong as far as I am concerned.. USA has supplied half the world with weapons including those used by Saddam Hussein against Iran .. Iran has every right to arm itself as far as I'm concerned. Because USA & Israel are now the greatest threat to civilisation.. NOT Iran!!

It's only an interesting question if you enjoy death and destruction on a grand scale and have no idea how that will affect you. In any case, it's hard to think of such a scenario as they are all preposterous. Take yours for example. Anybody but Israel would hit the wrong country by mistake. No arab country needs an excuse like that to attack Israel. NATO countries are not coming to anyone's aid, as we can see today. There are some more plausible, limited chain reaction events I can think of, but I don't want to fuel your fevered and perverse imagination.

A pretty sobering question, but one I often think of myself.
If there is an incursion on the Iraq, Iran border, involving U.S. troops, The U.S. will certainly retaliate. Iran will launch forces into Iraq, to engage U.S. troops. The U.S. will then launch air raids against Tehran & other military installations. Iran will then launch missiles against Israel as retaliation. Israel's response will be to invade Syria again to avoid the Iranian backed Hezbollah threat.
Saudi Arabia & the UAE will flood the world market with oil reserves to destroy Iran's infrastructure by driving the price of oil to rock bottom. This will have dire consequences for all oil producing nations.
Europe will stay out of the conflict for fear of domestic attacks, once this occurs however, they will eventually be drawn in to prevent a global economic melt down, particularly Russia who could ill afford to lose its piece of the petroleum market.
China would be the wild card, & may decide to take advantage of the situation for their own political & economic gains.
What ever happens, I'm pretty sure we're all f*#@ed!
Let's hope this never happens, as the United States would be hard pressed to fight a global war.

This is NOT the worse case scenario - It will be much, much worse than this one is!
Bush attacks Iran - Iran retaliates around the Globe by immediately attacking our interests there.
Fifty Dirty bombs go off all across the United States - and no one in America survives long enough to blame Bush for another one of his Screw Ups!
When you see that Mushroom Cloud on the Horizon just bend over as far as you can and take a good look as your **** - because in three seconds thereafter it will be Vaporized!

Just my vote.
Russia China Korea etc will be in the fray alot sooner than we think. Plus as soon as one A bomb goes off the rest will be launched quickly.. Nobody in Europe or Russia is going to like us dropping stuff in there back door because fallout will effect them..
Personally I Think
The next war should be fought by the leaders of the countries involved... Give them some guns dump them on an island and call it Survivor!!!!! Just like the medival good ole days if a king wanted to defend his name or lands or beliefs he was on the front line instead of sitting behind a desk with Secret Services all around him.
PS Props to the Prince in the UK to bad he going to fight in a war that really has no reason to it. I say that because if we ever do leave there will still be fighting there. There was fighting in that region 200 yrs ago and there will be fighting there 2000 yrs from now its pointless persuit to see whos dick is bigger!

The scenerio that would be most realistic to me would be the US attacks Iran. Russia who has been arming Iran to the hilt then delcares War on the United States. China who depends on Iran for oil, and has been helping to arm them also declares war on the US. NATO due to treaty obligations would have to come into the war on the US side setting up the next WWIII.

I suspect one or two big US nuclear bombs would prevent the situation from getting that far out of hand.
The US is still the only country ever to use nuclear weapons in anger.
