I'm at work; tried clicking on the Internet Explorer shortcut on my desktop...I get an error saying, " The instruction at "0x62304390" referenced memory at "0x62304390". The memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate the program.

However, I can get on the internet if I go to "My Network Places" and go through "My web sites"...
I assume my shortcut is faulty, but even when I click on "Start" and click on Internet Explorer, I still get this error...
I am pretty irritated...What does this error mean, and is there a way to correct it??
Thanks in advance!!

What you should do first is to run your antivirus software and see if it finds anything. Then if it does, go to the Symantec site for instructions on how to clean up the virus, trojan, or computer worm. After you have done that, you should go to the SuggestaFix.com computer forum. They have experts there who can help you. Post your info in their Internet Issues forum.

If it *is* your shortcut that is faulty (I sort of doubt it, but...) find the program to which the shortcut *should* point, and try double-clicking the program. Go to My Computer.
(1) In the case of Internet Explorer 7, go to Program Files, find the folder Internet Explorer, and double-click iexplore.exe
(2) In the case of Internet Explorer 6, do a Search and you *may* find a copy still hanging around before your next system update
(3) For Firefox go to Program Files and Mozilla Firefox and double-click firefox.exe
(4) For Opera go to Program Files and Opera and double-click opera.exe

Good luck!

ok your at work so they more than likely have a firewall. Do this, Open Control Pannel goto Tools-Internet Options and then Connections. Check the box that says Automaticaly dectect Proxy. and then hit Apply and go surfing.

Uninstall and reinstall IE and if that doesn't work i suggest downloading Firefox.

by the way i think your error is caused by running IE6 since some websites no longer support IE6 i suggest upgrading it to IE7 if you don't already have it.
