I'm from Italy, so sorry for my imprecise English...
Well, for a school project, I've got to find some English songs that talk about square and circus, possibly famous...we have to play them at a school recital...Can you tell me any titles?
Answer, please!!

I mean square like S. Peter Square in Rome or Piccadilly Circus in London, not cicles and square...

The only one I can think of is a very old song called "A Nightingale sang in Berkeley Square" but I don't know the tune:
(Lyrics by Eric Maschwitz, music by Manning Sherwin)
When two lovers meet in Mayfair, so the legends tell,
Songbirds sing; winter turns to spring.
Every winding street in Mayfair falls beneath the spell.
I know such enchantment can be, 'cos it happened one evening to me:
That certain night, the night we met,
There was magic abroad in the air,
There were angels dining at the Ritz,
And a nightingale sang in Berkeley Square.
I may be right, I may be wrong,
But I'm perfectly willing to swear
That when you turned and smiled at me
A nightingale sang in Berkeley Square.
The moon that lingered over London town,
Poor puzzled moon, he wore a frown.
How could he know we two were so in love?
The whole darn world seemed upside down
The streets of town were paved with stars;
It was such a romantic affair.
And, as we kissed and said 'goodnight',
A nightingale sang in Berkeley Square
When dawn came stealing up all gold and blue
To interrupt our rendezvous,
I still remember how you smiled and said,
"Was that a dream or was it true?"
Our homeward step was just as light
As the tap-dancing feet of Astaire
And, like an echo far away,
A nightingale sang in Berkeley Square
I know 'cos I was there,
That night in Berkeley Square

First let me say is that for an italian..your english is better than my english. And now let us get down to serious business.
This is a song that was sung by the English soldiers during WW 2,they sang it to cheer themselves up and keep on marching.
IT'S A LONG WAY TO TIPARARY..IT'S A LONG WAY TO GO..IT'S A LONG WAY TO TIPARARY TO THE SWEETEST GIRL I KNOW....GOODBYE PICADILLY FAREWELL LEICESTER "SQUARE" IT'S A LONG LONG WAY TO TIPARARY FOR MY HEARTS RIGHT THERE.
Sing this song loudly with other children and all dads and grandads will sing with you.

I think you mean squares and circles....anyway watch tv for preschool children....like Sesame Street and Blues Clues....you may not find any 'known' songs but they do make up jingles for the little ones.

I'm guessing you mean parks and public gathering places as well? Try Saturday in the Park by Chicago, or Itchycoo Park by the Small Faces.
