You know what? I'm glad you asked that question because almost EVERYONE has forgotten what it has taken to get to this stage - at least the ones who've answered so far.
The CHANGE happened with Luke and 2 Live Crew. Remember?
When they went to court to be ALLOWED to use profanity under the Freedom Of Speech? C'mon, now you see. That's when the industry HAD to start putting censor tags on the CDs that had profanity in it.
NOW, the music we have now has evolved. So, we'll take the good with the bad.
THAT'S why back in the day there was no cursing on records until 2 Live Crew (circa '86).
Without that, you'd have NO 2pac, Biggie, 50 Cent, Nas, Jay Z, etc...

well lets start by sayin that we can alll agree that hip hop and rap are probably at their lowest points ever
with the sudden appearance of all these new rappers, hip hop changed from being a way for people to exprss their feelings about life to people showing off how much money, diamonds and girls they have
and yes, i think that ALL music videos, not just hip hop (i recently saw a country music vid and it resembled a hip hop video) have too many women awearing too little clothes
this is the reason Nas made an album called Hip Hop Is Dead
u should check it out

I've never liked hip hop or whatever the hell it is called. No it isn't right that women do that, They shouldn't be exploiting themselves, especially with younger and younger people getting involved in it. Them calling women those words doesn't make sense either. That's violating women's rights and that should be outlawed. It doesn't make sense anymore. That's why I took the path of Rock. At least that music makes sense.

i think hip hop was a thousand times better back in the 80's to mid 90's. the stuff out now is just repetitive, annoying, and meaningless to me.

Art? Definitely. Tasteful... that's a matter of opinion. They wouldn't talk about b-tches and h0es in their music if it wasn't a driving force in their lives.
When rap music comes on, I usually just change the channel...
