I swim laps at a public pool quite frequently, and I was wondering if it is slightly in-decent for a man to swim without a light top such as a skin tight spandex type t-shirt.

Most places don't let people wear shirts in the pool; sometimes if they are baggy, people could get caught up in them and get weighed down and have trouble swimming... also the lint from t-shirts/clothes can mess up the pool's filters. But if the shirt is made specifically for water use (like shirts for jetskiing/surfing/etc.) the pools staff will probably be more lenient and let you wear it while swimming.

No, why would you think that? Unless you are a serious swimmer and wore those all in one swimming suits the professionals wear, but I'd think a man would look silly wearing a t shirt in a public pool

It's not indecent for a man to swim shirtless. It is the norm in the western culture anyway. I always swim with a regular cotton T-shirt on, but not because I reckon it's indecent not to do so. Your choise of swimwear does not affect anybody, so I suppose you should wear whatever feels right to you.

maybe the spandex shirt would work but definately don't wear a baggy t-shirt.. cuz that just looks horrible.
normally however, it is perfectly acceptible to not wear a shirt... its not normal to wear a shirt!!! but it just depends on ur comfort level.. i mean... if it weren't decent more swim suits for guys would have tops to them... but they don't so don't worry about it being in-decent

you should not have to wear a top while swimming. The only reason some people do is because they are insecure about their bodies

umm.. depends on their body i guess..
i think it would look kind of wierd if a guy a wore a tight spandex thing... but then i wouln't want to see an obese hairy guy swimming.... but then i wouldn't want to an obese guy in spandex either...
