have times changed that much that a man/woman can not tell if someone likes them. what is this insecurity?

The people who are insecure are the people who can not just COME OUT AND SAY IT! Just tell them you like them instead of playing games.

What you are suggesting here is that there was a time in the past where men and women ALWAYS know if someone liked them. That golden age where all people knew what everyone else felt and thought has never existed. For further proof, trying reading Jane Austen books or studying the history of social customs and love in different societies. You will find that nothing has really changed on that front. People have always had insecurity.

It is not the changing times, it is the inability of women to speak plain. You always hear and read women saying things like "I sent him all the right signals". We men have a hard enough time with red light, green light on driving signals, now you want us to interpret your subtle signals? Don't, just speak plain. Can't read a males signals? Easy, if they keep looking at you? they are interested. You are making this way too complicated.

Well, these days people have certain images to live up to and when they can't live up to them they feel worthless in every aspect of life....which sucks because if you can't love yourself how can anyone else love you?
